Thursday Night Training: Building Skills, Fitness & Game Awareness
Share
Thursday nights are all about putting in the work.
Arthur’s sessions focus on developing the core parts of his game — handling, movement, decision-making, and fitness. It’s not just about running around; every drill has a purpose and builds towards becoming a more complete player.
Training usually starts with skill-based drills. Passing, catching, and movement patterns are repeated over and over to build consistency. It’s about getting the basics right every single time, even when you’re tired.
From there, the intensity picks up. Drills start to include more pressure — quicker decisions, sharper reactions, and working as part of a team. This is where players begin to translate practice into match situations.
One of the key parts of the session is touch rugby. Touch keeps the game fast, forces players to think quickly, and improves positioning and support play. It strips the game back to awareness and decision-making — knowing where to be, when to pass, and when to go.
It’s also where you can see confidence grow. Players start to express themselves more, try things, and learn from it.
Every Thursday session is another step forward.
Not perfect, just consistent.
That’s how progress is made.
